Also, there are three land border crossings which you can travel into the kingdom overland.  All crossings are along the Indian border only - Phuentsholing, Gelephu and Samdrup Jongkhar.

Booking a trip to Bhutan is not as difficult as you may think. It is very simple. First you have to choose your Travel Agent like us and enquire about the Tour Package with Price. You must remember, the minimum daily Tour Price is fixed by the Royal Government of Bhutan and there is nothing much to deliberate. The next is to choose your tour program. Once your tour program and date and time of travel are fixed, you can make your full tour payment in advance to the Tourism Council of Bhutan with our company as your ultimate beneficiary. Upon receiving your full payment, after two to three days of the full payment, your visa can be processed and be sent to you. Please sent scanned copy of your Valid Passport. This ensures that your tour to Bhutan has been booked and you are ready to go.

All International tourists wishing to enter Bhutan require a visa which must be pre-arranged through a license Bhutanese Tour Operator or one of their international partners.  Visa clearance must be obtained through your tour operator prior to travel.  For Indian passport (or VIC) holders, Bangladeshi nationals and persons from the Maldives may obtain a visa on entry. Visas are approved by the Immigration Department in Thimphu, with which you allowed to enter Bhutan or board the Druk Air flight and Bhutan Airlines.

The actual visa is stamped on the passport upon arrival in the country, either at Paro airport or (if entering by road) at Phuentsholing. You just need to provide us details as per your passport that should include your name, permanent address, occupation, nationality, date and place of birth, passport number, more than six months valid and its date and place of issue and date of expiration. There is no need to send the pictures or sign the visa application at this time. Double-check that the information you send is correct; if there are any discrepancies when you arrive in Bhutan, there will be further delays and complications.

International tourist visas a cost of USD $40 applies.  This can be paid in advance to you tour operator or travel agent.  For Indian passport (or VIC) holders, Bangladeshi nationals and persons from the Maldives there is no cost incurred.

Bhutan is a year round Tourist Destination and every season or month is the best time. However, depending on climate and festivals, the season is defined either as High or Low seasons. Hence, the best time could be season time and good time can be low season time. However, if you are looking for low cost and good time, we consider the months of January, June and July as the Best time. During this time, you will see fewer foreigners in Bhutan and you have the luxury of enjoying your privacy. When it comes to Hotels also, you have more choices and you will also receive special attention both from the Hoteliers and your Agent since there won’t be many guests and it can be well taken care.

March – May and September – November is the best time to travel in Bhutan. The climate is good then and there are many festivals around this time.

The packing list might vary from person to person but in general you should bring different assortments of clothing for different weather. Below are few things you might want to carry. There are few 5 star hotels in Bhutan. The five star hotels do not come in the daily tariff we charge. We use three star hotels which are clean, carpeted and have good toilet and bath with hot and cold shower.

It is an extra payment that you have to pay if you are traveling in a group less than three people. Surcharge helps the government and the Travel agent to cover up the Transportation and standard hotel expenses. Hence, for group of two people, USD 30/- charge per Person per Night while for one Person, the USD 40/- per Person per Night is charged.

You can travel single in Bhutan. You will get an independent guide and driver throughout your tour. Usually we don’t combine groups as we respect the privacy of each individual.

Bhutanese currency is known as the Ngultrum. Most currencies are exchanged by banks here. The most commonly accepted currencies are US dollars, Australian dollars, Singapore dollars, Euro, pounds, Japanese yen, Swiss franc, Canadian dollars, Danish kroner, Norwegian Kroner, Swedish Korner and Indian rupees. However Indian notes in 500 and 1000 denominations are not acceptable. Most handicraft shops accept US dollar, Australian dollar, Euro and pounds. You can even exchange these currencies in some local shops. They give you better exchange rate than the banks.

Tips is not compulsory but most clients want to give something to their guide and driver as a gratitude. It is not necessary to tip the hotels but if you want to tip your guide and driver than an average of US$10/day for your guide and about US$7/day for your driver should be a good reward. You can even make it lesser, it is all up to you.

The most distinctive characteristic of Bhutanese cuisine is its spiciness. Chillis are an essential part of nearly every dish and are considered so important that most Bhutanese people would not enjoy a meal that was not spicy.

Rice forms the main body of most Bhutanese meals. It is accompanied by one or two side dishes consisting of meat or vegetables. Pork, beef and chicken are the meats that are eaten most often.  A wide selection of western and Indian food is also available in many of the restaurants around the country.
